Treatments

Exercise Therapy

Through various techniques including massage and trigger point therapy, soft tissue mobilization can be achieved. The aim is to soothe muscles, boost circulation, dissolve scar tissue, and alleviate pain by targeting muscles, tendons, and ligaments.

Soft Tissue Mobilization

Exercise therapy aims to rectify the weaknesses and imbalances that lead to pain or injury. We will guide you through specific exercises designed to target and strengthen the muscles that require additional flexibility or strength.

Joint Mobilization

This technique involves the practitioner uses their hands to apply rhythmic oscillation or sustained pressure to joints, aiming to restore mobility and function.

IMS: Intramuscular Stimulation

Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS) is a therapy for 'resetting' contracted, or shortened, muscles, which can often be the root cause of persistent pain. IMS practitioners utilize fine needles to stimulate trigger points in the tightened muscle, facilitating their release.

IFC: Interferential Current

IFC simulates local nerve cells to produce a pain-reducing effect and stimulate the discharge of endorphins that decrease pain. This therapy applies external electrical current which can result in some level of muscle contraction.

TENS: Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation

TENS, a non-invasive method, works by blocking signals from nerves to the spinal cord and brain, potentially offering temporary or even prolonged pain relief. Additionally, TENS can trigger the release of endorphins, further aiding in alleviating pain.

Therapeutic Ultrasound

In the context of physical therapy, ultrasound is utilized as a therapeutic tool. It has been proven to enhance blood circulation, dissolve scar tissue, decrease localized swelling, and chronic inflammation. Some studies have also demonstrated its potential to aid in the healing of bone fractures.

Myofascial Cupping

Myofascial cupping therapy aids in reducing pain and tension in the body. It enhances the circulation of blood and also promotes lymphatic drainage. Cupping can also help to improve joint range of motion.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is the use of very fine needles to stimulate the body to release its natural painkillers, endorphin and serotonin, as a way to alleviate pain.

Taping or Kinesiology Tape

Tape is utilized to offer support and stability to muscles and joints without impeding the body's range of motion, aiding the body's natural healing process.

Heat

Therapeutically, heat is used to reduce joint stiffness, muscle spasms, pain, inflammation, and edema. and boost collagen tissue extensibility. It also induces vasodilation, which leads to improved blood flow. This increases the supply of oxygen and nutrients, thereby promoting better healing.

Ice

Ice is typically utilized to alleviate pain and inflammation by reducing the blood flow to the affected area. It is most effective when used after exercising and primarily during the initial stage of an injury.
