Your follow-up visits

Depending on your diagnosis and treatment plan established during your assessment, you may be coming back to our clinic a few times a week for a few weeks. Your body needs time to heal itself as we'll guide it in the right direction. Physiotherapy is not a "quick fix". Our physiotherapists help your body heal using a variety of advanced treatment techniques. Every body is different and healing depends on your age, how well your body is responding to the treatment, and the severity of your injury. We will assess and monitor your recovery progress, and adjust your treatment as necessary at each visit.

Physiotherapy treatments

You'll receive one-on-one care where we use a variety of knowledge, treatment techniques and tools from, including:

Manual therapy

Manual therapy provides a hands-on approach. Massage is used to reduce muscle tension and improve circulation while promoting healing. Joint mobilizations are passive movements aimed at a target synovial joint with the aim of achieving a therapeutic effect. Assisted stretching and traction are used to stretch and increase range of motion and mobility.

Exercise therapy

We may prescribe exercises to increase endurance, strength, flexibility and range of motion. Advanced exercises are aimed at increasing balance, coordination and maintenance. We may change your exercises from one visit to the next as you progress in your recovery. All exercises will be demonstrated to you and will be available in your exercise library with pictures and videos.

Education

We believe the most important part of the physiotherapy treatment process is education. This is what sets us physiotherapists apart from other health professionals. With education we empower you and achieve the goals we set during your assessment. We'll have you take an active role in the treatment process in order to help prevent or manage injuries. This is important because you will understand the underlying cause of your condition. You will also understand why the treatment regimen we selected for you is appropriate, and how the therapy and exercises prescribed will help in your recovery.

Modalities

We use modalities to augment the physiotherapy treatment process and help speed up healing. Modalities can reduce pain and inflammation, and promote healing. Some of the modalities used by our physical therapists are ultrasound, IMS needling, myofascial cupping, acupuncture, interferential current (IFC), TENS, laser and shockwave therapy.
